Date Movie :

           Since Date Movie was created by the same folks that created the whole Scary Movie grouping, you would think it would have been hilarious. However, Date Movie starts off slow and never fully takes off. There is just so much wrong with this movie that it is almost difficult to get through completely.

          The first thing wrong with the movie is that the casting is just not right. Everyone loves Alison Hannigan, but she is really wrong for the role. She looks ridiculous dressed in a fat suit and is makes the entire thing corny instead of funny. If the directors had really gotten an overweight actress to play the part, it would have been a lot less distracting. However, Hannigan was quite hilarious when she was trying to be sexy for the construction men.

           Another thing that was all wrong for Date Movie was the spoofs. The truth is that the people who went to see Date Movie likely didn’t get a lot of the jokes. Most of the movies they spoofed in Date Movie were not movies that fit with the demographics of those seeing Date Movie. For instance, there were likely a ton of men that saw Date Movie, with hopes that they would be laughing like they did at Scary Movie. However, Date Movie made fun of movies like “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” which is not one that most men saw.

           In addition, since the movie spoofed chick flicks, the only people who were really getting the jokes were the chicks. In essence, most chicks liked the movies they were spoofing and didn’t find it funny at all. In fact, most of the jokes were quite boring or repulsive in nature.
