Sideman Movie Review - Boring Movies:

You’ve Got Mail

          What were Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan thinking when they signed on to You’ve Got Mail? Apparently they were thinking that their on screen chemistry, like they had in Sleepless in Seattle, would be enough to sustain them throughout the movie. Unfortunately, You’ve Got Mail is one of the most boring films of all time. And it really is unfortunate, because both Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are fantastic and they do really have chemistry together on screen. Something happened in between however, and it was not pretty!

          The biggest reason You’ve Got Mail is so boring is because of the writing. The writing is so dull that even hopeless romantics were wondering why they shelled out cash to watch the film. The expectations were so high and the actors and actresses involved did the best they could with what they had to work with. But, the writing failed them. The story should have been adorable, like most other love stories. However, instead it was just dull and not exciting at all. Some of the best love stories on film are very exciting. They don’t leave you wanting for more. You’ve Got Mail left you wanting your money back!

          Since the writing was so bad, the movie seemed to drag on forever. How many times did you want to see them writing email back and forth? Unfortunately, it may feel exciting to sit at your computer for hours, reading emails and writing back. But when you put in on screen, it looks ridiculous. It is like making yourself watch someone else read a book. Painful.
