Failure to Launch :
Who doesn’t love Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey? Bringing the two of them together in Failure to Launch was a wonderful idea and the casting directors should be patted on the back. In fact, they should get full-fledged massages for that act of brilliancy. The casting of Failure to Launch was perfect. From the hilarious Terry Bradshaw at McConaughey’s father to Kathy Bates as his mother, the casting couldn’t have been better. Bradshaw and Bates were great together and brought so much to the movie as well. The supporting cast of knockout Zooey Deschanel, Justin Bartha, and Bradley Cooper, were also fabulous.
Although the cast was terrific, the story line was great as well. It was so unique, yet believable. In fact, there were likely many mothers around the world wishing they could find someone like Sarah Jessica Parker’s character to get their son out of the house as well. Parker pulled off her character beautifully, and was not afraid to really go for the role. McConaughey was brilliant as well, bringing humor and humility to the character or Tripp. Tripp was a guy that everyone was routing for, even after he was hurt and devastated to find out what was occurring.
From the director, to the cast, to the costume experts, this movie had it all and should be remembered for years to come. It was a classic romantic comedy that not only had people laughing, but also pulled at their heartstrings. Overall, it was fantastic and should belong in everyone’s collection of DVDs. |
