Closer :
Closer is likely one of the most boring movies to ever sit through. Had it been a novel to read, it would have been much more exciting indeed. However, it was the film version that was so excruciatingly boring. The story was a great and dramatic one. The twists and turns were perfect in every manner. However, it was not a story that should have been made into a movie. That was a mistake. Reading over it before signing on, the actors and actresses involved likely felt the drama and were excited about their opportunity. Because again; the story seemed perfect for acting.
However, when the movie was finished, there could not have been one of them that didn’t think it was boring. The acting was fabulous. With big names like Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owens, how could the acting have been any better? Natalie Portman and Clive Owens even won Golden Globe awards for their performances and got Oscar nominations for them as well.
But even though the actors were on top of their game, the movie dragged along. The substance was not exciting enough to keep the attention of the audience. Was it the writing for the screenplay? Perhaps. Was it that the movie could have been edited more? Perhaps.
All in all however, Closer was a movie that failed to keep the attention of most of the audience watching it. Not because it was a bad story idea or because it had a bad cast, but because there was something missing from it, or some things that should have been missing instead.
