It is quite a difficult task to pick out only ten best horror movies out of the seemingly endless list of horror movies made, but nevertheless an effort has been made to list out the top 10 best horror movies.

1. 28 Days Later – 2002
2. Hellraiser – 1987
3. The Shining (The story of a family that goes for holiday to an isolated hotel and the unnatural experiences they have there and its final effect)
4. The Haunting – 1963
5. The Exorcist (This is a story of a girl who lives in Washington with her mother and who starts showing typical symptoms of possession. However, after trying all medical alternatives the mother seeks the help of a priest cum psychiatrist, who with another priest try to drive the spirit off to save the girl.)
6. Psycho
7. The Audition
8. Dawn of the Dead – 2004
9. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
10. Dark Water – The original movie is a Japanese movie and the remake is much more sober than the original and has only some bits of scary things in it, but the original one is a really unsettling movie.

The choice of different people may differ and that is why there may be some who may not agree with this list and would like to see some other movies in this list in place of some of the existing ones. But the movies mentioned above are definitely value for money and have some real scary and gruesome stuff in them.
