New Star Trek Movie Reviews

Paramount announced the release of Star Trek to be on May 8, 2009 year although originally it was to be released in December, 2008. A scientifically fiction film derived originally from the Star Trek, a television series that was a household hit, is directed by J J Abrams.

The characters of James T Kirk and Spock remain the same; but portrayed by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto instead. It has been written by Alex Kurtzman with Roberto Orci jointly. It is about these two characters and them uniting with USS Enterprise. Their intention is to fight back Nero, a threat to the United Federation of Planets. It has earned the fifth place as highest grossing movie of 2009 in the US.

Ben Burtt came up with sound effects and the phaser blasts almost sounded the same as his blasters in ‘Star Wars’. Abrams relied on Michael Giacchino for composing music for this movie, who preferred to keep the original track of Alexander Courage when the crew comes together at the end. Both the sound effects and music on audio level have played their part in carrying the movie at par.

As for the visual effects, Star Trek takes the credit of being the first film where the entire shots are on digital ships. Now one can imagine the impact of the film on the audience with the filming and the designs that are highly captivating.

Astronaut Michael R Barrett requested Paramount for a copy of this movie before he made his scheduled departure for his stay at the International Space Station. Paramount ensured that Barrett received the copy in May 2009 prior to his departure.
